In building intelligent, disciplined and characterized people, starting with quality education and professional teachers in teaching. The importance of discipline that must be applied to every educational institution and individual so that later every student has a great sense of responsibility as a student. Indeed, all of that cannot be applied to all institutions and individuals, in this case students, depending on the obedience and diligence of the students.

Discipline is absolute, because with discipline they will get used to the burden they carry as students, namely being intelligent, moral students and competing with other nations. Discipline is the main capital to achieve success, with discipline a person will get used to the things that allow him to develop, do something on time and develop the potential that exists in him.

Discipline is a rule made by himself or an educational institution to achieve certain goals, in terms of education, the level of application of learning and intelligence. Building a smart education starts from discipline, the discipline applied by a student without being aware of the student will get very valuable benefits from the discipline that is applied.

Discipline is very important for students, discipline is not only carried out and on the road only because of a rule and policy that must be obeyed in accordance with those rules, but discipline is carried out because of self-awareness to increase a high level of success. For example, time discipline, a student who carries out activities with discipline will tend to value time and do assignments according to the time set.

Kadir(aadesanjaya) stated that. Discipline is compliance with regulations or being subject to supervision or control. And also this discipline aims to develop character so that you can control yourself, so that you behave in an orderly and efficient manner.” Meanwhile, according to Djamarah, discipline is "an order that can regulate the order of individual and group life." Djamarah, Learning Achievement and Teacher Competence Discipline has an important role in achieving goals. The quality or not of student learning is greatly influenced by the most basic factor, namely discipline, in addition to environmental factors, both family, school, discipline and the talents of the students themselves, while Character education will be built from the discipline itself, from the discipline that is carried out it will form a strong, tough, sturdy and dynamic person who is responsible for his progress and also the tasks he carries out. Character education is closely related to discipline because it is one of the keys to individual success.

Therefore, building character education for students is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand, it takes a very extra process and a very long time to guide the students themselves, all of that must start from the educational institution environment by implementing a quality system and a positive environment .

When hearing the word discipline, many people think that discipline is a constraint in life, not free and full of rules. Steven R Covey wrote "discipline will make you a slave to moods, tastes and passions".

Discipline involves acting according to what we think, not what we feel at certain times, it takes discipline when we want to master certain skills, such as mastering how to play music with new musical instruments, mastering a foreign language or mastering useful skills. for your profession, discipline is often interpreted as a sacrifice for personal pleasure, if it is understood the essence of discipline is the obedience that a person has to carry out trusted values including doing a job with full responsibility.

For those of you who want to increase productivity, are more confident to take opportunities and organize your life to be more effective, it's not too late to build your mental discipline. Here's how to improve our discipline. In this scientific paper, the author proposes a fairly effective way to develop discipline, a powerful way to build the discipline is as follows,

1. Self Understanding.

When we decide on something, commit to it regardless of how and how you feel at that time. The main trait of discipline is self-understanding, you need to deeply decide what behavior reflects your goals and values. Write down your goals, dreams and ambitions, make your personal mission more real by writing them down that way you will better understand your main goal to carry out each activity more meaningfully accompanied by discipline.
Full of Consciousness.

Discipline is very dependent on a person's level of awareness of what he is doing and what he should not be doing. If you don't realize you haven't been disciplined, how will you know you have to change. When you know when you have to do a job with discipline, then you have gained self-awareness of discipline. To develop our discipline takes time and the key is you have to have self-awareness that you lack discipline and must improve your discipline, this will give opportunities to you to make decisions that are more in line with your goals.

2. Commit to Discipline.

Writing down your goals is not enough, make a personal commitment to yourself. When you decide to get up early at 5 am, then when the alarm goes off, you really wake up because you have set a strong personal commitment in yourself for the activity. Make the decision to continue your activities with full commitment, with your sincerity will be able to make the disciplined activities that you build into a new positive habit for your productivity.

3. Be brave.

Discipline usually becomes weak due to various temptations that come from both inside and outside of us, becoming a challenge when we are faced with moods, tastes and desires that do not support us to carry out our activities in a disciplined manner. difficult to do, that way you will be better prepared to face every challenge and make you a strong person because your self-confidence will grow more naturally. With good confidence discipline and enthusiasm will come naturally.

4. Communicate with yourself.

When we are faced with difficult decisions or problems that require good control, there is nothing wrong with discussing with yourself by motivating yourself to be able to survive in the midst of existing problems, or be more confident in the decisions that will be taken. Likewise, when you feel your discipline is declining For one reason or another, tell yourself to always remember the commitments you have made. Always remember that “The price of discipline today is no worse than regret in the future”. Train yourself to consistently improve the quality of yourself.

Discipline is nothing but rules and regulations, which are carried out firmly and strictly. Not only does this discipline require the implementation of all regulations in a thorough and pure manner, down to the smallest details, not deviating in the slightest, but discipline also requires sanctions, namely the certainty of having to impose punishment on anyone who violates or ignores the rules. already set

Discipline in character building must be carried out systematically and continuously involving aspects of "knowledge, feeling, loving, and acting". Given the importance of planting character at an early age and considering that preschool age is a period of preparation for real school, then planting good character at an early age preschool is a very important thing to do. Talking about character, we must understand the meaning of the term. Character itself can be understood as a person's character, character, morals, or personality which is formed from the internalization of various virtues that he believes in and uses as a basis for perspective, think, behave, and act. .

In social life, there is an order of values or norms that regulates what is considered good or bad. In addition, there are religious and cultural values that support it. So it can be said that positive character is a good attitude and behavior that is acceptable and in accordance with cultural values , religion and societal norms.

When all parents or teachers understand the importance of forming positive characters in children, so that positive characters can be embedded and appear in children and hope that character can stay in children. The first and foremost thing to do is: parents or teachers must show, get used to and set an example of positive character. Exemplary is the main condition for the success of character education.
